Position Overview:

The Production Manager, Salvage is responsible for the day-to-day production operations within their department as well as the weekly/monthly area performance including output, labour productivity, Asset utilization and quality.

The Production Manager, Salvage supports OEM’s strategy of building high quality components by relying on strong processes and detailed documentation to improve quality, repeatability and consistency, execution, by their area team across 3 shifts, for the strategy and aid in the enterprise’s goals.

Job Description:

  • Oversee Safety, Quality, and Production for the area; provide leadership and supervision, and manage the human resources for the department.
  • Coordinate workers on multiple shifts, to ensure area is meeting production, quality and safety targets.
  • Ensure safety policies and operating practices are implemented, identify deficiencies and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Respond to safety incidents quickly and with appropriate corrective actions.
  • Proactively look for lean and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Problem solves process, quality, and production improvements.
  • Ensure communication among the shifts is seamless and standardized including a set of weekly / bi-weekly toolbox meetings for each shift including safety topics, corporate messages, and procedural updates.
  • Develop detailed plans for managing and communicating process changes.
  • Develop business cases for capital & operational expenditures for departmental projects.
  • Execution of the weekly Production Plan, including labour load leveling, overtime management and variance tracking.
  • Weekly production and quality variance analysis, and improvement recommendations.
  • Provide direct cost oversight (e.g. labour utilization, overtime, consumables and material overages).
  • Review all warranty and related reports, initiate any necessary corrective actions.
  • Develop technician career progression and training plans within the department.
  • Ensure assignment and completion of scheduled daily and preventative maintenance responsibilities.
  • Conduct regular 5S, contamination control process, and quality audits.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Perform Performance Management and Progressive discipline as required.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of operational management experience.
  • Related education (Bachelor of Commerce, leadership education, etc.) is considered an asset.
  • Experience within a Unionized environment an asset.
  • Machinist Journeyperson Ticket an asset (not required).
  • Strong knowledge of Machining processes and setups on Both CNC and Manual Machines an asset.
  • Demonstrated process improvement experience.
  • Demonstrate an above understanding of a Machine Shop value proposition cost benefits within a component rebuild environment.
  • The ability to interact with various levels within the organization, conduct interviews with subject matter experts and analyze information to understand the product and procedures.
  • Can assimilate and convey technical material in a concise, effective manner.
  • Know how to find information and identify essential details.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Above average process analysis and change management skills.
  • Above average communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to facilitate positive culture change.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

  • This position is based out of our Edmonton OEM office location.
  • Afternoon shift, Monday - Friday.
