Job description

We are seeking a Production Manager to provide front-line leadership in the strategic and day-to-day operations of the A&H / Itipack production team. This role is critical in ensuring smooth and efficient operations through strategic direction of processes, resource allocation, and employee management. The Production Manager will be highly accountable for achieving results that reflect high standards of customer service, technical expertise, quality, safety, and machine performance.

The Production Manager’s oversight includes the Supervisor/Lead Hand(s), manufacturing and trades personnel, machine assemblers, quality control, shipping/receiving, and procurement. Strong relationship-building skills, communication skills, and motivational leadership practices are essential.

Excellent technical knowledge and experience with industrial machinery/automation is a must.

Responsibilities:

  1. Production Planning & Management: Direct resources to fulfill production requirements in a timely, efficient, and safe manner while meeting or exceeding high standards of quality and customer experience. Lead staff towards achievement of objectives and performance targets. Utilize personal agility and a hands-on approach to adjust quickly in response to changing needs and priorities.
  2. Health & Safety Leadership: Understand, implement, and champion all health, safety, and wellness initiatives in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act requirements and internal standards. Ensure employees understand and demonstrate good safety practices.
  3. Accountability for Results: Establish organizational standards for quality, service, and safety, and hold themselves & others accountable. Meet or exceed production targets/KPIs and implement improvement strategies where results fall below expectations.
  4. Technical Processes / Continuous Improvement: Maintain excellent knowledge of company products and processes. Identify and evaluate opportunities for continuous improvement in alignment with organizational objectives.
  5. Team Leadership & Development: Drive performance with communication of expectations, monitoring/appraising job performance, coaching/counselling, progressive discipline/corrective action directives, and relationship management. Support employee growth & development and assist in developing long-term succession plans.
  6. Financial/Budgetary Management: Make decisions regarding equipment use, modification, and procurement. Allocate and review labour hours and material usage for cost efficiencies.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma is required; post-secondary diploma/degree in a technical, engineering, or relevant field is preferred.
  2. 5+ years of previous experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  3. Excellent technical knowledge of (or ability to quickly learn) standard parts, services, & processes.
  4. Working knowledge of various types of tooling, materials, and machinery.
  5. Good knowledge of quality systems & standards.
  6. Good knowledge of health & safety standards, best practices, and legislative requirements.
