About Progressive Industrial Fluids Ltd.

Progressive Industrial Fluids Ltd. (PIFL) is Ontario's premier manufacturer of industrial lubricants, coolants, drawing fluids, and specialty cleaners. With a strong commitment to innovation and quality, we have built a reputation for delivering cutting-edge industrial solutions that meet the highest standards of performance and sustainability. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Production Chemist to join our team and contribute to our mission of providing industry-leading products to our customers.

Role Overview:

The Production Chemist will play a pivotal role in ensuring the consistent quality and performance of PIFL’s industrial products. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the formulation, production, and quality control processes of our lubricants, coolants, and specialty cleaners. This role will require a deep understanding of chemical processes, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining safety and regulatory compliance in all production activities.

Your First 90 Days:

  1. First 30 Days: Orientation and Integration
Immerse yourself in PIFL’s culture, product lines, and production processes. Participate in a thorough onboarding program, which includes safety training, familiarization with production equipment, and a review of PIFL's chemical formulation standards. Shadow senior chemists to observe current production practices and begin to understand quality control protocols. Gain hands-on experience with lab testing and the analysis of raw materials and finished products under supervision.
  2. Next 30 Days: Increased Responsibility
Begin to independently manage routine production tasks, including batch formulation, quality control checks, and troubleshooting minor production issues. Work closely with the production team to optimize processes, ensuring that safety standards and quality are maintained at every stage. Start identifying potential areas for efficiency improvements in production workflows and chemical formulations. Engage with the R&D team on current projects and provide input on small-scale test batches.
  3. Following 30 Days: Independence and Growth
Take full responsibility for managing chemical production processes, ensuring consistent quality, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. Conduct independent analysis of production data to identify trends, suggest improvements, and begin to implement process optimizations. Collaborate with the quality assurance and production teams to drive initiatives aimed at improving product consistency, reducing waste, and minimizing production costs. Take on a leadership role in troubleshooting production issues, offering insights and solutions based on your growing understanding of PIFL's products and processes.

Success Metrics for the First 90 Days and Beyond:

  • Reduction of production downtime and waste.
  • Consistent adherence to product quality standards and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Successful collaboration with R&D on product development projects.
  • Contributions to process improvements, resulting in enhanced production efficiency.
  • Positive feedback from the production and quality assurance teams regarding your integration into the workflow and problem-solving capabilities.

By the end of your first 90 days, you will have demonstrated a strong ability to manage chemical production processes independently and contributed meaningfully to our mission of continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, refine, and oversee the production of industrial lubricants, coolants, and specialty cleaners to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Conduct laboratory tests and analyses to verify the chemical composition and properties of raw materials and finished products.
  • Work closely with the Research & Development team to support the innovation and development of new formulations.
  • Implement and monitor production processes, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of formulations, batch production, and quality control data.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards, including environmental and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the production and operations teams to ensure smooth transitions from R&D to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes to ensure continuous improvement and quality assurance.
  • Manage raw material inventory levels and work with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of high-quality materials.
  • Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to improve product performance and sustainability.
  • Undertake any additional duties, or responsibilities that uphold and advance the Mission, Vision, and Values of PIFL, contributing to PIFL’s continuous growth and commitment to excellence.

Requisites:
