About the Product Manager, Core Products role
We are seeking a talented and driven Product Manager to join our growing Product team. You will play a pivotal role in executing Float’s product strategy and delivering exceptional products that delight customers and drive Float’s growth. This is an exciting opportunity to get in at the ground level on one of the fastest growing teams in Canada and build the best corporate card and spend management platform in Canada!
As a Product Manager at Float your responsibilities will include:
- Product Strategy: Contributing to the roadmap for a product area at Float. Conducting market research, identifying customer needs, and working with Float’s co-founders to align on our go forward product roadmap.
- Product Planning: Creating and maintaining a product plan that outlines the key features, enhancements, and initiatives to be delivered over time. Prioritizing workstreams, managing dependencies, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Product Development: Overseeing the end-to-end product development process. Working closely with a team of Engineers, Product Ops, Designers, Product Managers and other key members of the internal Float team (Marketing, Sales, Customer Operations) to deliver products to our customers throughout discovery, delivery and go-to-market stages. This includes ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products while managing scope, budget, and resources effectively.
- Requirements Gathering: Collaborating with key stakeholders, including customers, internal teams, and external partners, to gather and analyze product requirements. Translating business needs into detailed product specifications and user stories.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with our co-founders, other members of our team and customers to gain a deep understanding of the challenges they are facing and translate that knowledge into our product strategy, roadmaps, and features, as well as go-to-market strategy.
- Market Analysis: Monitoring market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes within the fintech industry. Analyzing customer feedback, conducting market research, and identifying opportunities for product differentiation and innovation.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilizing data and analytics to make informed product decisions. Analyzing user behavior, conducting A/B testing, and leveraging key metrics to measure the success and impact of product features and enhancements.
- Product Adoption: In partnership with key teams across Float, planning and executing product launches, ensuring effective communication and adoption strategies. Coordinating with our go-to-market teams to drive user acquisition, retention, and engagement.
- Customer-Focused Development: Actively seeking feedback from customers and stakeholders to drive continuous product improvement. Conducting post-launch reviews, gathering user feedback, and iterating on the product based on insights and data.
- Learning and Growing: Actively engaging in peer coaching and fostering a collaborative environment. This includes mentoring and supporting other product managers and other team members across Float, sharing knowledge and best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.
You’ll be great in this role if:
- You’ve got the experience: To be successful in this role, we’re looking for a minimum of 3 years of SaaS Product Management experience. You’ve taken ownership over the product experience and shipped great products as a Product Manager before.
- You’re motivated by being a leader: You have previous experience partnering (or a strong desire) with teams of Engineers, Product Designers, Product Operations etc. An excellent cross-functional communicator with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders, you’re able to navigate any natural tensions between various groups.
- You love the world of product: You care about the details with a strong data-driven metrics approach. No stranger to an Agile environment, you’ve managed product roadmaps, worked with the Eng team to prioritize what needs to be built each cycle, understand detailed technical concepts, backend systems, and API specs. You love the craft of shipping software and take pride in the outcome.
- You’re a builder: You’ve been a Product Manager at a growing startup, have experienced the growing pains of scaling before and want to join another early stage company to do it all again. You are proactive and results-driven, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- You’re eager to continue your own learning: Scrappy and voracious, you want to know the ‘why’ behind every answer. You’re a creative product thinker who can combine quantitative thinking with great product functionality. Finding creative ways to work through obstacles is fun for you.
- You believe the customer comes first: You’ll advocate endlessly for our customers, and have a natural curiosity to understand their needs.
- You’ve got an understanding of the market: You’re curious about the finance and spend management space. You have a continuous learning mindset and stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in product management.
- You have a strong understanding in P&L: You have a solid grasp of how product decisions can impact the P&L, and you’re able to connect your work to the bigger picture.
This role won’t be a fit if:
- You haven’t built outstanding products at a scaling company.
- You don’t have a bias for action.
- You aren’t an outstanding cross-functional communicator.
- You don’t have strong stakeholder management skills.
- You aren’t ready to roll up your sleeves and ship.
- You aren’t great at managing product teams and product roadmaps.
- You aren’t able to ruthlessly prioritize.
- You aren’t comfortable with ambiguity.
- You don’t like to work asynchronously or in a hybrid environment.
- You don’t like regular feedback on your work.
- You aren’t super passionate about helping Float build the best corporate card and spend management platform in Canada.
We are open to hiring anywhere within North America. For those outside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), there would be regular travel required to work with the team in person.
Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role, and you strongly align with our values but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this, or other future positions.
