Job Description
Live Assets is hiring a Procurement Specification Writer for one of its clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed and accurate requirements for the acquisition of goods. They will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), and other specifications align with trade agreements and provincial legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop clear, precise technical, functional, and performance-based specifications for various goods.
  2. Ensure compliance with industry standards, public sector regulations, and organizational guidelines.
  3. Revise existing specifications to align with organizational objectives and mitigate risks.
  4. Research industry standards and analyze market trends to create cost-effective, quality-driven specifications.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders, ministries, and teams to gather input on requirements.
  6. Ensure specifications meet legal and regulatory obligations.
  7. Guide procurement officers and stakeholders on defining, interpreting, and applying specifications.
  8. Train teams on the practical application of specifications in procurement activities.

Necessary Skills

  1. 6 years of demonstrated experience in executive stakeholder relationship management and engagement (e.g., determining the needs of senior stakeholders and understanding business priorities and pressures).
  2. 6 years of experience assisting in reviewing, evaluating, and providing input during business requirements gathering and detailed design specifications.
  3. 6 years of experience in public sector procurement processes, including an understanding of trade agreements and competitive bid law.
  4. 6 years of experience providing guidance to procurement officers and stakeholders on defining, interpreting, and applying technical specifications for RFXs (Requests for Proposals, Quotes, Information, etc.).

Nice to Have

  1. Completion of SCMP or other equivalent courses and associated certifications.
  2. Demonstrated experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  3. Demonstrated experience working as Trainer on at least 1 project in a large organization or public service environment, impacting 100+ staff.
