A great opportunity within the Procurement and Category Management department.
You will conduct activities associated with the procurement of specific goods/services at the lowest possible price, consistent with the specified quality in the required time; perform procurement activities according to TTC policies, departmental procedures/guidelines, industry practice and professional standards; provide expertise in handling complex contracts for major commodities, services and infrastructure and facility type contracts.
You will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services necessary for the TTC’s operations at the lowest possible cost consistent with the specified quality in the required time; Facility and Infrastructure related procurements such as Maintenance, Repairs and Operational which supports the upkeep of the TTC basic infrastructure such as tunnels, buildings, stations, garages and equally cover the electrical, HVAC, plumbing requirements. May include the procurement of inventory related products; liaising with user departments, vendors and other transit organizations to provide guidance and advice regarding commercial, financial and contractual matters; preparing and obtaining informal and formal competitive tender/proposals for goods and services, development of evaluation criteria for proposals, evaluations of commercial submissions and formal contract award recommendations; preparing and issuing contract documents for the procurement of goods and services, standard letters, purchase orders and procurement tender/proposal documents; coordinating all communication with bidders from tender issue through to contract award and providing responses to bidders, as required.
You will prepare responses to and correspondence with contractors and consultants regarding contractual and commercial matters; review the client’s scope of work, specifications and requirements to ensure that prerequisites have been provided (e.g., budget/project approval, estimate, schedule, technical details, etc.); Process contract amendments, as required; locate and develop alternate sources of supply for goods and services, particularly for single source items to increase competition and reduce costs of goods/service purchased; contribute to reports, briefing notes or status updates on diverse matters relating to the section's activities such as procurement, contract administration, inventory control, inspection visits, or projects.
You will develop effective relationships with assigned categories, client departments, vendors and continually improve the supply base structure to leverage TTC spend and ensure goods/services are made available within schedule; negotiate or chair negotiations to establish acceptable pricing and terms for contracts, contract changes, resolving claims or other issues with vendors, and preparing commercial analysis where required and processing purchase order amendments for approval and conduct debriefing meetings with unsuccessful bidders as required.
