Position Detail:

We are looking for an experienced Bilingual (French/English) Procurement Specialist to join our team for this remote role.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for providing bilingual support in the areas of purchasing, vendor management, agreements, RFPs and negotiation of terms. Will work with business partners on effective solutions to procurement and sourcing as well as handle troubleshooting and process improvement.

Salary range: $70,000-80,000 CAD

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

• Provides exceptional bilingual customer service to internal and external business partners;
• Issues purchase orders ensuring adherence to procurement policies;
• Oversees vendor management including sourcing, onboarding, and building and maintaining relationships;
• Analyzes commercial terms and agreements and collaborates with the Company’s legal team on approvals and negotiations;
• Prepares RFPs and bid documents, manages internal and external communications, analyzes and evaluates proposals, and administers the evaluation process;
• Actively manages designated supplier relationships and contributes to initiatives aimed at creating process improvement and efficiency through financial and operational performance;
• Leads negotiation of terms and conditions;
• Provides thought leadership by serving as an expert and generating innovative ideas and opinions and working with business partners to develop new and creative strategies regarding policies and procedures;
• Troubleshoots and resolves process issues impacting stakeholders;
• Complies with all FirstLight policies and procedures;
• Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications / Skills

• College diploma in Business Administration or related field OR equivalent experience;
• 2+ years’ experience in procurement/purchasing, competitive bidding, RFPs and procurement savings initiatives;
• Must be bilingual – fluent in English and French;
• NISCL-CSCL, CSCMP or similar Designation is a plus;
• Functional understanding of contracts/contract law and construction law and liens as well as risk management;
• Understanding of global sourcing, import/export requirements and sustainable procurement practices;
• Experience with vendor management and enterprise asset management systems;
• Energy or power industry experience, a plus;
• Strong negotiation skills;
• Excels in both a team environment as well as independently;
• Self-motivated with a willingness to progress/improve processes and functions;
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills;
• Extremely high attention to detail, well organized and strong documentation skills;
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
