Procurement Assistant (summer student position)

What You’ll Work On

The Procurement Assistant will support our manufacturing department by performing key tasks outlined below:

  • Verifying new and existing product records to ensure they are complete and accurate including but not limited to missing, incomplete or inaccurate grouping, vendors, lead times, min/max, purchase pricing, etc.
  • Aid in updating system trade agreements and product pricing.
  • Works with internal procurement and product teams on various D365 system related items including analyzing data and capturing/reporting variances.
  • Supporting inventory requirements by analyzing planned order reports, placing Pos and communicating/following up with vendors.
  • Issuing and managing RFQs.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of your first year completed in a Supply Chain Management or Business Administration program at a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Experience in a procurement or inventory environment would be an asset.
  • Someone who is responsive and provides excellent service to internal and external clients.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and particularly Excel, with an aptitude to learn new systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-starter with high attention to detail and accuracy.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Registered full-time or part-time in a publicly funded Canadian post-secondary institution in any program (International students with a work permit are not eligible).
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • The WIL (Work Integrated Learning) experience must be recognized by the student's post secondary institution to be eligible.
  • Eligible work placements can include cooperative education, internships, field placements, and applied research projects.

Work Environment

  • This is an office environment where 90% or more of the time will be spent on a personal computer.
  • Time will also be spent within our electronics manufacturing facility.
  • Safety first mindset.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to occasionally lift objects up to 20 lbs, walk up and down stairs, and sit or stand for extended periods of time, including the use of a desktop PC for extended periods.
