Position: Process Engineer

Primary Location: Brandon, MB

Schedule: Full time - Monday to Friday – 40 hours work week. Overtime needed as per business needs and training objectives.

Reports to: Technical Manager

Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 per annum

The Canadian base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000 per annum + bonus + benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. More specific salary ranges for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process.

About this Role and About You

The Process Engineer at our Brandon, MB production facility will observe plant areas for opportunities for improvement through the use of technical/analytical tools and prepare technical reports including recommendations for modifications. They will also participate in team problem solving and goal setting activities for departments as well as providing expertise to resolve technical issues. The Process Engineer will also act as plant coordinator of process safety management program including HAZ-OPS, Management of Change (MOC), and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).

In This Role, You Will

  • Trouble shoot difficult operating problems and monitor processes for day-to-day optimization opportunities.
  • Monitor and assess key process indicators to identify plant issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in the Process Safety Management program via Hazops, the Management of Change process, and action item closure to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of other engineers, plant operators, and maintenance staff to implement solutions and improvements.
  • Create and revise process engineering documentation, calculations, and reports.
  • Identify, support, and develop opportunities for process optimization and plant productivity initiatives.
  • Participate in the tracking and continuous improvement of plant reliability.
  • Develop and provide input to facility operating and maintenance procedures to ensure the safety of plant personnel.
  • Scope, plan, and execute capital projects, as needed, to support site objectives.

A Successful Candidate Has

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from an accredited university with minimum 1 year of experience in process engineering and design. Consideration will also be given to a degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 3 years of experience in process engineering.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Engineer in Training (EIT).

Competencies

  • Knowledge and experience working with P&IDs, PFDs, equipment datasheets and other engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency in process calculations, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management elements to guide and initiate/monitor/audit site process safety.
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee health and safety.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communicator able to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated individual who is eager to learn and improve their skillset.
  • Knowledge of industrial process control systems (DCS, SCADA, PLCs) is not required but considered an asset.
