Responsibilities:

  1. Enthusiastically lead the plants in Lean, Continuous improvement, and 5s to reduce waste and improve the plants productivity accordingly.
  2. Participate in new process development and planning by researching the cost and ability to execute the plan.
  3. Support the development of new SOP’s focused on cost savings and increasing efficiency.
  4. Ensure all involved parties are included and trained on all new processes and changes.
  5. Identify all areas of process improvement and define the strategies to implement the changes.
  6. Prepare, coordinate and facilitate problem-solving activities, within a context of continuous improvement.
  7. Adhere strictly to standards of quality, OHS and controls established by the CFIA, HACCP Canada and the WSIB/CSST.
  8. Quantify project benefits, execute the project and achieve results.
  9. Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system, other 3rd party audits, or customer audits.
  10. Support the production of documents.
  11. Ensure that all other local, provincial and country laws and regulations are adhered to.
  12. Effective implementation and adherence to company’s Food Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures including but not limited to SQF, HACCP and GMP to ensure food safety and quality of products manufactured.
  13. Support the shop floor in the scale up, feasibility, registration, validation and first commercial production.
  14. Lead continuous improvement teams.
  15. Generate and analyze KPI reports to identify improvement opportunities on production lines.
  16. Develop SOPs (Standard Operational Procedure), OPLs (One Point Lesson), and Centerlines.

Requirements:

  1. Must have completed a minimum of two years of study in a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Process Engineering.
  2. A recent graduate can also be considered.
  3. Experience with best practices and continuous improvement.
  4. Strong working knowledge of Lean/5s.
  5. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, Access and Visio).
  6. Experience in automation would be an asset.
  7. Knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s, SQF.
  8. Strong diagnostic skills, problem solving and change management.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills (communication, able to influence others, accountability and teamwork).
  10. Creative, innovative and detail-oriented.
  11. Ability to excel in a changing environment where challenges are constant.

Working Conditions Notations:

  1. Hours will vary according to projects, with a possible need for extended hours and working weekends.
  2. Exposure to food products, flour, starch, meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, etc.

Comfortable working in an industrial frozen food manufacturing environment with the associated noise/dust levels and refrigerated environment.
