Job Summary
The Process Engineer will play a critical role in developing, optimizing, and scaling Responsible Energy’s PFAS destruction technologies at our Ontario-based facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong chemical engineering background and experience working in hazardous waste treatment, industrial chemical processes, or environmental technology. This role will focus on process design, optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and sustainable operations.

Key Responsibilities
1.Process Design and Optimization
- Design, develop, and refine chemical processes for PFAS destruction using our Free Radical Gasification technology.
- Conduct mass, energy, and fluorene balances to evaluate and improve system efficiency.
- Identify and resolve process inefficiencies and bottlenecks to optimize production throughput.
2.Technology Implementation
- Collaborate with R&D, environmental specialists, and engineering teams to implement and deploy our PFAS destruction technology.
- Support technology commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance validation.
- Analyze system data and recommend adjustments to enhance process stability and reliability.
3.Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for process hazards.
- Implement process safety protocols, including HAZOP reviews and safety audits.
4.Quality Assurance and Control
- Develop and maintain process control systems, including instrumentation and monitoring equipment.
- Perform root-cause analysis of system failures and implement corrective actions.
- Lead process validation and quality testing to ensure regulatory and environmental standards are met.
5.Project Management and Documentation
- Support the development of process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, and SOPs.
- Work closely with project managers to deliver solutions on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors for equipment procurement and installation.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline with a strong chemistry core (required).
- Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience in industrial chemical processes, hazardous waste treatment, or environmental technology.
- Direct experience with PFAS or hazardous chemical destruction technologies is highly desirable.
- Strong background in chemical process design, scale-up, and optimization.
Skills
- In-depth understanding of PFAS chemical properties, thermochemical reactions, and advanced treatment methods.
- Expertise in mass/heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and reaction engineering.
- Proficiency in process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in complex systems.
- Exceptional project management and communication skills.
