Position: Process Engineer

Location: Edmonton, AB

Role Overview:

As a Process Engineer at their esteemed organization, you'll be involved in a wide array of oil and gas processing equipment, including Separators, Indirect Fired Heater Packages, Glycol Dehydration Units, Gas Refrigeration Packages, Amine Sweetening Plants, Deep Cut Cryogenic Liquid Recovery, Fractionation Plants, shell and tube heat exchangers, and more. Their designs often exceed 200 MMSCFD. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Process Engineering Supervisors and Managers, guiding Process Engineers-in-Training in process design and detailed design of the processing facility, including key equipment such as heat exchangers, vessels, fractionation towers, and utility systems.
  • Work on a diverse range of gas processing and heavy oil projects for domestic and international clients.
  • Develop in-depth technical expertise in natural gas and heavy oil processing while mentoring junior engineers.
  • Hone your critical decision-making skills while working closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineering and design leads.
  • Forge strong client relationships and gain practical experience by overseeing the fabrication and assembly of your projects.
  • Embark on domestic and international travel for startup and commissioning support.
  • Benefit from mentorship provided by senior process engineers, supervisors, and managers to further your technical development and excel as a lead process engineer.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer registered and in good standing with Alberta Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or eligible for membership.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in natural gas processing, heavy oil, or a related field.
  • Specific experience in one or more of the following processes: Cryogenic LPG Recovery (Turbo-Expander), Reciprocating Compression, Fractionation, LPG Sweetening, Gas Sweetening, Gas Dehydration, and Refrigeration would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing and/or fabrication is highly valued.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with clients and internal team members.
  • Proficiency in engineering software, including HYSYS and similar tools.
  • Experience in sizing process equipment is considered an asset, particularly for separators, towers, heat exchangers, PSVs, flare systems, control valves, pumps, and compressors.
  • Familiarity with typical process deliverables such as PFD, HMB, P&ID, Line List, Design Basis Memorandums, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Control Narratives, and Datasheets.
