Reporting to the Senior Process and Equipment Engineering Manager, the successful applicant will assume a key role in process improvement and optimization of the company’s semiconductor radiation detector products for capacity, yield and cost improvement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Optimizing semiconductor fabrication processes such as lapping, polishing, photolithography, metallization, module assembly, etc.;
  • Finding continuous improvement opportunities utilizing a wide variety of basic analytical techniques (run charts, control charts, histograms, pareto charts);
  • Developing process automation solutions to improve process quality and reduce process cost and cycle time;
  • Designing and executing Design of Experiments (DOE) and conducting statistical analysis of data for process optimization, improvement and reporting;
  • Generating technical reports and recommendations based on experimental data;
  • Documenting the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for various device fabrication processes and material/device characterization instruments;
  • Assisting manufacturing process engineering in implementing improvement opportunities;
  • Developing process monitoring and control metrics and advising on proper inline metrology;
  • Contributing to the tech transfer function between R&D, Engineering and Manufacturing;
  • Conducting failure analysis and troubleshooting of non-conforming manufactured products to determine root cause.

Experience

Required:

  • A minimum of four years’ experience in semiconductor material and device fabrication or equivalent industries;
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment;
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize/report unforeseen experimental deviations;
  • Knowledge of designing experiments using DOE methodology and applying this knowledge to process development, optimization and improvement;
  • Statistical analysis experience using Minitab or JMP software.

Skills/Additional requirements:

  • A very hands-on and innovative individual that works well in a team environment and with non-routine tasks;
  • Experience in mechanical design of simple jigs and fixtures;
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and be able to work with limited supervision;
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and self-motivation.

Education

  • MSc. or BSc. in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent.

Salary Range: $75,000 - 95,000 CAD

It is common for ranges to span multiple levels in order to attract top talent across experience levels. It is uncommon to be hired at the top of the range; however, in exceptional cases where a candidate's skills and expertise significantly exceed the role's requirements, we may consider offering a higher salary.
