PRIDE Seeds is currently seeking a focused and self-motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a full-time permanent Process and Safety Coordinator.

Position Summary

The PRIDE Seeds Process and Safety Coordinator assists in the overall management of processing, warehousing, and distribution at the designated plant. Leads plant operations, warehousing, and shipping teams to produce high-quality products, on-time shipping, and low customer service complaints. This position will work to ensure location operating, continuous improvement, and safety goals are accomplished. The role is responsible to review, implement and audit production processes and corporate health and safety policies to ensure compliance with both company and government standards.

Position reports to PRIDE Seeds Manager, Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of equipment.
  • Assume leadership role in AgReliant’s safety culture and ensure safety standards are being followed in the workplace.
  • Responsible for projecting a positive image AgReliant Genetics and acting in accordance with the Company’s Core Values.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Schedule and conduct training as required.
  • Maintain training records as required by Corporate Health & Safety Program.
  • Maintain record of work-related illness or injury for production department (Similar to OSHA 300 Log used in the USA).
  • Sit as a member of the local safety committee.
  • Schedule industrial hygiene testing as required (Audio testing, Respiratory fit testing, Air quality).
  • Production Processes:
  • Analyze work processes and proposes procedures for compliance.
  • Recommend improvements to work processes and implements changes.
  • Establish training programs with the Quality Management Systems (QMS) Manager at AgReliant Genetics, LLC.
  • Ensure annual training is conducted and documented as required.
  • Participate in Corporate training sessions as requested.
  • Maintain training records for location.
  • Build and manage emergency action plans and evacuation maps and update as needed.
  • Conduct audits and drills to ensure compliance: takes samples, checks records, and performs inspections.
  • Aid in bringing location into compliance for QMS, AWSA.
  • Maintain contractor clearance records (Regulations & WSIB Clearance).
  • Lead root cause analysis meetings for safety and quality incidents and record corrective action plan.
  • Assist management with production tours of the plant and harvest area to dealers and Grain Farmers of Ontario.
  • Assist with insurance broker audits.
Duties may be amended by the Company as may be reasonably required.

Education/Experience

  • Advanced diploma or bachelor’s degree in agricultural or business-related field required.
  • 2 or more years of previous management/leadership experience preferred.
  • 3 or more years of seed industry experience (or related industry).
  • Technical knowledge of plant, agronomy, field, and warehousing operations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, people management, and relationship/team building skills.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, assertiveness, and results orientation.
  • Knowledge of the seed industry preferred.
  • Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to develop and maintain site budgets.
  • Ability to coordinate and complete projects on time and within budget/scope.
