Principal UX Researcher
Location: Kitchener-Waterloo/ Toronto (Canada)
Are you a creative person who loves a challenge? Solve the complex puzzles you’ve been dreaming of as our Principal UX Researcher focused on the processes that enable companies to manage financials, cash, and profits. If you have a passion for innovation in tech, we want you on our team!
Oracle is a technology leader that’s changing how the world does business. We’re looking for an experienced and self-motivated person. We appreciate you taking the time to review the list of qualifications and to apply for the position. Come and join us!
We’re looking for a Principal UX Researcher to lead strategic, systems-level research at Oracle NetSuite for the value stream Optimize Cash & Profits (OCP). This opportunity allows you to influence the evolution of a complex platform that supports businesses across industries using Oracle NetSuite. Optimize Cash & Profits (OCP) focuses on business financials - dealing with solutions related to the success of companies on their financial operations (i.e. payments inbound and outbound, cash management, business planning, financial compliance, and risk). Your work informs the future of business operations, from automating payments to deep insights on cash flow and revenue goals.
As a Principal researcher, you’ll work at the intersection of user needs, business priorities, and technical capabilities. You’ll uncover deep insights about how people interact with and experience large-scale enterprise systems and help shape how we build for them. You’ll also play a key role in setting the research vision, maturing our practice, and enabling cross-functional partners to make confident, insight-led decisions.
This role requires someone who can zoom out to see the big picture while connecting the dots across workstreams. You’ll navigate ambiguity with ease, bring structure to complexity, and help product and design teams align around long-term strategies.
Role
- Work with cross-functional teams to plan and execute tactical research.
- Lead foundational and generative research initiatives that explore emerging needs, mental models, workflows, and ecosystem dynamics across the OCP landscape.
- Lead evaluative research for complex topics that are across the OCP landscape.
- Map complex systems and interdependencies to inform platform strategy, identify opportunity areas, and guide product teams through informed tradeoffs.
- Understand and propose when research is needed and when other methods are appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with Research Leadership to define research strategies that span product areas and time horizons: supporting both near-term planning and long-term vision.
- Synthesize research findings across studies, teams, and timeframes to reveal broader patterns, contradictions, and actionable insights that shape strategy.
- Exercise strong judgment around when research is necessary, what type is most appropriate, and when teams are better served by making decisions based on existing evidence or directional input.
- Collaborate with cross-functional peers (Product, Design, Engineering) to bring user-centered thinking into planning and decision-making.
- Mentor other researchers and model research excellence: ensuring rigor, clarity, and impact in every phase of the work that meets timelines & business objectives.
- Be a part of a research team of 6 Optimize Cash & Profits researchers and an extended community of over 40 researchers globally.
- Collaborate with the experience design team and product management to help establish strong research methodologies and processes that enable teams to make evidence-based design decisions.
- Educate team members on best practices and enable teams to explore research activities on their own.
- Collaborate within and across functions to support user-centric processes that lead to increased empathy and understanding of users and improve the product experience.
- Contribute to the development of a global research practice.
Your qualifications and skills
- 8+ years’ experience doing user research, preferably in the Enterprise domain. Experience with planning, sourcing, manufacturing/assembly, fulfillment, or delivery is a plus.
- Experience planning and executing different types of research and usability testing activities such as interviews, customer visits, requirements gathering activities, survey research, and formative and summative usability evaluations.
- Degree in the field of Psychology, HCI, Human Factors, or related field (advanced degree a plus).
- Comfortable working in high-ambiguity environments and proactively identifying the right research to drive progress.
- Strong sense of independence, ownership, and initiative. Ability to self-direct and manage what to work on, how to get it done, and when to deliver.
- Passion for elevating research craft, mentoring others, and contributing to a high-performing research culture.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple high-profile projects in a fast-paced organization.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English to conduct business and research with customers in North America.
- Flexibility to work with geographically distributed teams and willingness to travel (less than 5%). Will involve working with customers and product team members in multiple countries and time zones. Our product teams and key stakeholders are distributed between the United States (California & Texas), Canada (Kitchener-Waterloo), Spain, Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom.
- Familiarity with research platforms and tools: Dscout, Zoom, survey tools, research analysis, and research repositories.
Our company culture:
