Job Description:

GTT's client, a leading Canadian financial technology company, is seeking a Senior Principal Enterprise Architect to work in the Platform Deployed Team. Operating in a flat, agile, and iterative environment, this company prioritizes speed and innovation to maintain its competitive edge. With plans to scale rapidly from 800 to over 1,100 employees within the next 24 months, this role offers an exciting opportunity for growth and a meaningful impact. The position comes with a competitive base salary, industry-leading bonus structure, and a comprehensive benefits package. This role requires onsite presence 3-days per week in downtown Toronto.

This role is integral to a transformative program designed to implement the ISO 20022 messaging standard, enhancing payment data richness while fortifying fraud mitigation capabilities through a centralized fraud utility service. Operating in a fast-paced Agile environment, this position requires a strategic leader who can seamlessly align product, technology, and business objectives to deliver mission-critical projects.

The Senior Principal Enterprise Architect —reporting to the Leader, Architecture—will be deployed to a platform to support its objectives and guide it on a multi-year journey for technology transformation. Working directly with the platform leadership and owners, the Architect will ensure the backlog includes what is necessary to meet enterprise objectives and help prioritize related work into release plans that both deliver business value and support technology transformation over time.

The successful candidate will have deep experience in delivering technological platform services to product line teams. The platforms you have enabled may include major Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), as well as popular application services offered across such platforms for databases, container management, service meshes, event streaming, cryptographic material management, etc., and integrated SaaS solutions for functions like Identity and Access Management (IAM), Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), and more. With this kind of experience under your belt, we will support you to develop into a new kind of "enterprise architect" that is far from the old school ivory tower types that go by the same name. The expectation will be to blend engineering with design and architecture in this role to shift architecture left in the SDLC, reducing the need for review cycles by providing agile development teams with solutions they can drop directly into their platforms from day one to be "pre-compliant" with enterprise standards. It's a different kind of mindset for architects.

Job Duties:
  • Partnering with platform leadership and owners on backlog population, curation, prioritization, and release planning across multiple squads.
  • Managing architectural requirements in platform backlogs.
  • Technical debt tracking and remediation planning.
  • Conducting well architected reviews and map findings to remediations in the backlog.
  • Contribution to, and leadership within, working groups tasked with continuous, iterative cross-PL product convergence and platform standardization.
  • Curating/incubating/prototyping/delivering new potentially shared capabilities in partnership with your aligned PL team and others in the architecture practice.
  • Prototyping/POC patterns, create docs/cookbooks, and executable code.
  • Product-to-platform dependency tracking.
  • Peer enablement for the Application Architecture domain, leading a working group accountable for supporting fellow architects to upskill on application architecture and related skillsets (e.g. development and engineering).
  • Providing executive & program advice and consulting.
  • Governing architectural and decision quality.

Experience Required:
  • On Premise Technology Architecture Experience
  • AWS Cloud Technology Architecture Experience
  • Networking architecture experience
  • Experience with Platform Architecture (not applications)
  • Experience migrating from on premise to cloud environment
  • Experience managing Kubernetes Cluster on-prem environment
  • Experience with Kubernetes infrastructure build out
  • Experience in the evolution and practice maturation of an Enterprise Architecture Team
  • Recent and in-depth experience architecting, designing, POCing, prototyping, and testing technology products and/or platforms on cloud platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure and AWS) and on premise.
  • Experience working on online transaction processing solutions with very high availability and resilience expectations.
