Job Title: Preventative Maintenance Planner
Location: Calgary, AB – occasional site travel required
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: Feb 2025-Feb 2026

Description:
Working in the Maintenance & Reliability Department in Canadian Thermal & Conventional Heavy Oil (CHO), the contingent Preventative Maintenance Planner will be accountable to develop and implement maintenance strategies to mitigate the risk of equipment failure.

The planner will be accountable for the development and implementation of Reliability standards, processes, and tools, as well as collaborating with the asset-based teams to actively manage the preventive maintenance program and optimize it to maximize reliability, efficiency, and safety.

The role requires experience in scoping, planning, and executing reliability improvement projects and developing, working with, or implementing maintenance or operational integrity management system standards and processes.

The individual must have the ability to collaborate with subject matter experts, field-based maintenance & operations leadership, and front-line personnel.

Experience facilitating conversations with cross-functional teams to achieve alignment and managing change through large stakeholders is required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expertise to support or lead closure of site-specific Preventive maintenance programs gaps.
  2. Develop template recommended practices for these plans where opportunities exist.
  3. Assist with development of site-specific maintenance programs for new facilities and/or major expansions.
  4. Generate template job plans with field technicians and work with field experts to improve these plans.
  5. Utilize Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) tools and processes to develop risk-based asset management strategies for new facilities and/or major expansions.
  6. Provide expertise in development of Equipment Bill of Materials and identifying critical & operating spare inventory.
  7. Develop Maintenance Programs in alignment with Safety Critical Equipment Performance Standards.
  8. Support maintenance work planning, scheduling, and execution improvement initiatives.
  9. Support the development of job aids and training materials to enhance knowledge and utilization of SAP PM Module.
  10. Support the development and reporting of M&R KPI’s and dashboards including the management of master data change request notifications and tasks.

Deliverables:

  1. Standardize and optimize Equipment Maintenance Strategies.
  2. Standardize and optimize Maintenance Plans.
  3. Equipment Bill of Materials and recommended inventory levels.
  4. Completion of Master Data Change Requests Notifications.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  2. Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician or Electrician.
  3. 10+ years Planning and/or Maintenance & Reliability Experience in Oil and Gas.
  4. Strong knowledge of SAP PM module.
  5. Experience in large facility operating environments, preferably upstream Thermal (SAGD) facilities, and ideally working in or directly with maintenance and operations teams.
  6. Knowledge and experience with safe work practices in oil and gas production accompanied by a superior safety attitude.
  7. 10+ years’ experience in Maintenance Management system and process development and implementation.
  8. Familiarity with industry standards related to equipment reliability, safety, and risk management.
  9. Knowledge in failure investigation and root cause determination.
  10. Change management experience in managing change through large stakeholder groups.
