Starting Hourly Rate: $17.50

New Hire Schedule: Temporary 2 months Part Time Monday & Wednesday: 11am-6:30pm. There may be opportunity to pick up additional shifts; casual hours will be available after the temporary contract, and the successful candidate will have access to internal growth when opportunities are available at the site.

Job Summary

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for preparing food and serving customers in accordance with applicable local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

As a Prep Cook, you will:

1. Obtain daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef.
2. Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible.
3. Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking.
4. Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
5. Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
6. Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, etc.
7. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
8. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
9. Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
10. Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.

About you:

1. Previous experience as a prep cook required.
2. Certificate from a recognized cooking school.
3. You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
4. Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
5. Able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
6. A team player with effective communication skills.
7. Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure.
8. Training from a culinary school will be an asset.
9. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
