Part Time or Full Time Pastor
Full Time
Name of congregation: Our Savior’s Lutheran LCMC
Location: 2065 Birch Avenue, Inwood, IA 51240, which is about 6 miles from West Lyon School (about 900 students) and about 25 miles from Sioux Falls, SD (population 220,000) which has excellent medical facilities. Website address: meetoursavior.org
Worship time: 9:30 on Sundays, with Communion shared twice a month. Special Lenten and Advent services are held midweek, led by the Pastor or a lay person. We have a contemporary worship service using overhead screens for music and sermon notes. There are approximately 90 baptized members, and about 50 in attendance on Sundays.
Our Savior’s has a 5-member council who oversee the operation of the church and serve as liaisons to the following 5 boards:
Originally established in 1888 by Norwegian farmers of the area, the church burned to the ground in 1995. Within the following year a new building was constructed, and we celebrated 125 years of our congregation in 2013. Due to the growth of the congregation, an addition of Sunday School rooms, a larger fellowship hall, and another bathroom was added. The entire building is handicapped accessible.
Our pastor is our only staff. In addition to our morning service, he/she gives Sunday afternoon service and Bible study at Fellowship Village Nursing Home in Inwood as a volunteer each month. The town of Inwood has a ministerial group that includes all of the area Pastors. A community worship service is planned by the ministerial group for each holiday throughout the year, including an Advent sing-a-long.
Our Savior’s is a very social and caring church. We care especially for our shepherds, and give them time to rest and relax, and have time with their family. Being a pastor can be demanding and we recognize that.
Volunteers take an active part in the Sunday service, and several other areas. After services, we provide snacks, coffee and lemonade for all those attending church on Sunday. We frequently have potluck meals after church services.
We help families with tuition for their children to attend Bible camp each summer. Two Sundays per month our children collect a Noisy Can offering from the congregation to purchase animals for impoverished countries abroad.
For several years we have offered a meal to those visiting the graves at our cemetery on Memorial Day. When it is our turn, we provide snacks and Bingo at Fellowship Village. Several of our members volunteer at the Inwood Manna Market Food and More. The Manna Market gives away food and household items, and even provides child care for parents to shop there. Volunteers are involved in Brothers in Blue prison ministry to introduce God’s saving grace to inmates who may not have heard of it.
Our mission statement: “Our Savior’s Lutheran is a community church, a family of believers dedicated to sharing the Gospel and showing Christ’s love to all for the Glory of God.”
Our Savior's is looking for a full time or possibly a part time pastor.
