About the workplace:
This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, you’ll be required to attend in-person activities or events.
Are you an expert in responsible investing (RI) with extensive experience relating environmental social governance (ESG) analysis? If so, then we want to hear from you! As the Head of ESG, Vancity Investment Management (VCIM), you are accountable for maintaining VCIM’s position as a leader in sustainable investing and all aspects of VCIM's RI program. Your job will be to ensure an optimized investment portfolio for members consistent with RI criteria.
A typical day would involve:
- Provide portfolio management and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) screening for investment portfolios to enable long-term competitive performance in accordance with VCIM investment policy guidelines and strategic objectives.
- Propose potential investments to the Investment Committee for portfolios that optimize performance and comply with ESG criteria.
- Provide regulatory reporting and commentaries to clients for mutual funds and portfolios consistent with regulatory requirements.
- Execute shareholder engagement activities (e.g. filing shareholder resolutions, meeting with companies/investors) to mitigate potential ESG risks.
- Provide marketing and sales support (information, seminars, materials, etc.) to promote awareness of socially responsible investment products.
- Advise and coach leaders in the application of Socially Responsible Investing (SRI), and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) concerns to inform decision-making and reporting and enable the achievement of business objectives.
- Manage a team of ESG-focused analysts in the application of ESG and SRI principles across a suite of investment products for VCIM.
You have:
- Post secondary degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
- Ten years of professional investing experience; with at least five years in relevant responsible investing work experience.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and portfolio management.
- Experience in leading, managing, and motivating a team of investment professionals.
- Experience in public speaking and delivering presentations.
- Technical writing and editing experience.
- Recent securities registration (IIROC, BCSC/Provincial ICPM) experience/ability to be registered as an Advising Representative with the BCSC.
Bonus points if you have:
- Impact investing and private markets experience considered an asset.

Salary: The salary range for the role will be base pay of $100-140K plus incentive.
