What We Do

The Portfolio Construction Manager will be responsible for creating model portfolios for Fidelity’s prospects and clients in partnership with Fidelity’s Portfolio Strategists. The role will support all sales regions and its DVPs, BDMs, and BDAs to provide portfolio construction expertise regarding Fidelity’s product offerings, third party products, industry trends, and competitor intelligence. The Portfolio Construction Manager will be involved in all aspects of development and ongoing support of Fidelity Portfolio Solutions.

How You’ll Make an Impact

- Contribute to asset allocation discussions and investment model portfolio strategy, oversight and execution

  1. Utilize investment tools and market research to make actionable recommendations, including a detailed analysis of risk, return and diversification aspects of a model portfolio and/or an advisor’s book of business.

  2. Partner with Portfolio Strategists, their clients, and prospects to contribute to the building of investment models.

  3. Conduct third party manager research to develop a strong bench of investment options, using both quantitative and qualitative analysis.

  4. Monitor products used within model portfolios for notable changes and communicate impacts.

  5. Develop relationships with Fidelity’s Portfolio Strategists, and occasionally their prospects and clients.

- Establish Fidelity Canada as an industry leader in portfolio construction

  1. Build, maintain, and communicate expert level knowledge on portfolio construction concepts.

  2. Identify opportunities to develop and execute portfolio construction strategies that will maximize market penetration and increase customer loyalty.

  3. Partner with Portfolio Strategists to educate and promote Fidelity’s portfolio construction philosophy, process, performance, and competitive strengths.

  4. Assist in providing thought leadership and insights regarding the marketplace.

- Support Sales, Marketing & Corporate Affairs with timely & relevant information

  1. Provide expert insights into the development of external investment communication material ensuring portfolio construction information is correct, compelling, and understood relative to competitor service offerings.

  2. Assist in the development and analysis of thought leadership pieces.

  3. Support portfolio construction education for those with varying degrees of investment knowledge.

  4. Provide insight and counsel for investment solution improvement and product development initiatives.

  5. Provide support for Portfolio Strategists on ad hoc portfolio construction queries.

What We’re Looking For

  1. Completion of a University degree or equivalent work experience.

  2. 7+ years of investment market expertise.

  3. Completion of CFA/MBA/CAIA is an asset.

  4. Canadian Asset management or wealth management industry knowledge.

  5. 3+ years of building and maintaining model portfolios, or maintaining a recommended list of 3rd party investment managers, with expert level knowledge on portfolio construction concepts.
