About Our Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Department of Justice as a Policing Specialist within Public Safety and Security Division, Policing Strategies and Governance Section. In this role, you will lead initiatives relating to divisional correspondence, police training, and special events in alignment with departmental objectives.
Primary Accountabilities
Reporting to the Project Manager, Public Safety and Security Division, as the Policing Specialist you will be responsible for:
- Providing independent, specialized professional expertise for the administration, management, delivery, and evaluation of divisional programs and initiatives.
- Analyzing and synthesizing information from both internal and external sources to ensure timely and relevant information is provided to management including briefing notes, reports, and recommendations. Supporting contract and/or agreement management, communications, and implementation planning for initiatives and programs.
- Drafting correspondence in response to inquiries and concerns from key stakeholders and the public. Supporting senior colleagues in the development of internal and external communications.
- Planning, developing, evaluating, promoting, and monitoring new initiatives using current and emerging technology. Providing advice and guidance to support staff to facilitate programs and initiatives.
- Working with Finance colleagues to monitor budgets and forecasts through timely and effective coordination and analysis of operating expenditures to produce financial reports.
- Duties that are administrative in nature, such as data entry and liaising with justice partners to gather or disseminate requested information. May perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintaining strong relationships with government departments, law enforcement, and service providers to facilitate effective communication and collaboration on shared mandates to ensure program effectiveness. Participation in working groups and committees may be required.
Qualifications And Experience
To be considered for this opportunity, you have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus five (5) years of related experience in policy/program planning and development. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.

Working Conditions
Most of your time is spent in a comfortable office setting and may involve sitting for long periods of time. Travel throughout the province may be required. Your normal work week is 35 hours/week. You may be required to work overtime on occasion.

Salary Range: $2,556.10 - $3,107.16 Bi-Weekly
