The Medicine Hat Police Service is looking to hire a Police Clerk to join their team and provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. As a Police Clerk, you are responsible for processing and disseminating police information and ensuring accurate records are maintained within a variety of specialized police systems.

This position requires you to excel in a fast-paced environment and to be available to work a flexible schedule, which includes weekdays, weekends, statutory holidays, and rotating evening/night shifts.

Your key responsibilities

• Performing data entry, transcription, and uploading of all police files.
• Preparing legal and related documents for charge files.
• Maintaining records and accurately entering information into various Police systems.
• Providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.

• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and conflict resolution skills.
• Sound decision-making skills, flexibility, and good judgment in managing your workload, along with detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a one (1) year certificate in an Office Technology Program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Two (2) years' experience in dealing with the public in sensitive situations, including one (1) year experience in a computerized billing/accounting environment, and two (2) years administrative office experience, preferably with related legal knowledge.
• Possess current certification for Standard First Aid/CPR and AED or ability to obtain.
• A management-approved combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Must pass a full Police Service security clearance as outlined in the Medicine Hat Police Service Policy and Procedures, including a polygraph examination.
