Plant Manager (Full Time) - Sarnia, ON

Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Area Manager, the plant manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient daily operation of the ASU plants in Sarnia & Mooretown, ON. The plant manager directly supervises the facility’s operators and technicians, hires contractors when appropriate and is responsible for maintaining the facility’s KPI’s.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an Air Separation facility and meeting established quality, productivity and cost objectives while ensuring adherence to safety and compliance programs.
  • Ensure employee adherence and compliance with standard operating procedures, standard maintenance procedures and health and safety policy requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all government regulations and Linde policies.
  • Managing people and operations within a Union environment.
  • Lead reliability, compliance, quality, and safety programs.
  • Coordinate production and maintenance programs to meet daily customer requirements.
  • Ensure team is fully trained in, committed to, and conducts their activities in accordance with all aspects of Linde’s Safety Policies and Operations systems procedures and requirements.
  • Review key performance indicators for improvement areas.
  • Co-ordinate, manage and assist in troubleshooting, under stress, technical problems in specialized mechanical, electrical and process equipment.
  • Resolve workflow problems and conflicts by analyzing impediments and organizing work to maximize use of personnel, equipment, and material resources.
  • Identify issues and lead improvement plans in production processes, shift schedules, overtime levels, training, etc.
  • Plan production outages and arrange outside contractors or other internal resources.
  • Financial responsibility for the facility and ability to implement cost controlling measures.

Required Qualifications

Education

University degree/diploma or equivalent experience in the field of plant/process Management, Engineering, or related degree combined with a minimum of 5 years industry experience.

Experience

  • Preferred 5+ years of experience in an industrial plant environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in management or in a related role with project management accountabilities.
  • Knowledge of the financial methods and systems.
  • Previous industrial gas experience a plus.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent time management and work prioritization skills with an ability to effectively manage multiple high impact priorities.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proficient knowledge of construction methods, systems & materials. Keeps current on changing technology/methods and industry practices through continuous learning.
  • Practical understanding of engineering drawings and tenders/RFPs.
  • Ability to understand and interpret contract documents, Process and Instrumentation drawings, and specifications. Be familiar with subcontractor’s contracts including scopes of work, exclusions, clauses, and limitations.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to proficiently use e-mail, Microsoft Office 365, and Microsoft Project to communicate information effectively to management team, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Ability to instill Safety policies and implement procedures to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and works well with teams.
  • Professional, excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
