Plant Manager - Fasteners

A plant manager needs to be knowledgeable across multiple disciplines and employ strong organizational skills. They will oversee and manage the daily operations of a Cold-Forming manufacturing plant, ensuring that production goals are met while maximizing overall plant performance. Responsibilities include developing processes that improve safety, quality, and efficiency.

Strategic Vision and Critical Thinking:

  • Understanding how the various aspects of plant operations interact with each other, as well as how changes in one area can affect others.
  • Identify potential problems before they arise and take preventive measures to ensure optimal production processes.
  • Ability to set long-term goals and strategies that are designed to improve employee productivity or reduce energy costs.
  • Define objectives that will guide day-to-day operations while ensuring continuous improvement efforts.
  • Knowledge of Cold-Forming industry trends to make informed decisions about future strategies and goals.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes and communicate them clearly to employees.
  • Able to allocate resources depending on changing needs while keeping sight of the company's longer-term goals.

Financial Management:

  • Understanding of budgets and costs, analyzing data for decision-making, and forecasting revenues and expenses to ensure smooth operations with minimal costs.
  • Able to evaluate resource usage such as client, equipment, stock levels, and maintenance versus cost-effectiveness to identify areas for savings.

People Management Skills:

  • Understanding the process of recruiting, hiring, and training new staff members.
  • Able to lead by example and motivate employees to reach their full potential.
  • Experience in delegating tasks to maximize efficiency and ensure timely completion with high-quality standards.
  • Setting clear expectations and holding employees accountable for their performance.

Communication Skills:

  • Able to effectively communicate in a Cold-Forming manufacturing plant.
  • Articulating goals clearly across all departments and managing conflict resolution through active listening.
  • Ensuring that employees adhere to production standards and quality requirements.
  • Providing constructive feedback and responding promptly to customer complaints.
  • Understanding how each department works together to effectively communicate objectives.

  • Knowledge of specific cold-forming equipment and problem-solving techniques.
  • Understanding quality control standards and enforcing them daily.
  • Ensuring all raw materials meet industry quality requirements.
  • Keeping track of current trends in technology.

Organization & Planning Abilities:

  • Creating systems for efficient production and establishing clear schedules to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Understanding operations management and production scheduling to ensure smooth daily operations.

Negotiation Skills:

  • Ability to find creative solutions to cost reduction.

Time Management Capabilities:

  • Delegating responsibilities to meet deadlines and fulfill production schedules.
  • Maintaining accurate records of daily activities to monitor all aspects of plant operations.
  • Tracking inventory levels, production output, and operational costs.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or engineering discipline.
  • Understanding of Cold-Forming manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of materials such as Carbon, tool steels, and stainless steels.
  • Experience working with Tool Room Specialists/Machinists in fabrication.
  • Prior experience in the operation of Cold Heading equipment.
