ABOUT THE ROLE
The Plant Manager is responsible to provide leadership and direction to the Richmond Cement Plant, to accomplish goals and objectives of the plant and to maintain a permanent effort towards increasing efficiency and productivity. The Plant Manager is responsible to develop and maintain high plant performance standards in safety, maintenance, sustainable industrial excellence, effective environmental stewardship, people development & mobilization, customer relations, budget planning and control.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Oversee and manage all plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and community relations, ensuring objectives are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Ensure the execution of production programs that align with schedules, quality standards, and cost forecasts, while minimizing production costs through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor plant performance, maintaining equipment, facilities, and compliance with regulatory and environmental standards, while managing budgets, capital expenditures, and key contracts.
  • Drive operational excellence by achieving/exceeding KPI targets, managing capital asset maintenance, and recommending strategic investments to optimize plant operations.
  • Act as the company’s ambassador to local community groups, regulatory agencies, and government bodies, while providing leadership in civic and business organizations to enhance Lafarge's image and communicate the plant contributions to the community.
  • Lead and mentor the plant leadership team, supervisors, and key roles, providing guidance, training, and support to drive performance improvement and asset optimization.
  • Manage labor relations by setting strategy, negotiating the collective agreement, and maintaining key relationships with the union to ensure a positive work environment.
  • Support human capital development through resources for skill, knowledge, and behavioral growth, while preparing team assessments, succession plans, and fostering talent within the plant.
  • Manage and strengthen the plant relationship with the sales team, ensuring customer feedback, sales forecasts, and production plans are aligned, while coordinating site visits and customer interactions.
  • Collaborate with distribution and cement management teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries, while actively participating in customer visits and cross-functional initiatives to address customer needs and opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Additional Education Preferred: MBA or MS/MA in Management
Field of Study Preferred: Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
Required Work Experience: 10+ years of industrial experience required, with a strong background in operations; experience in cement manufacturing preferred
Travel Requirements: 15%

Additional Requirements:

  • Previous cement manufacturing experience preferred
  • In-depth understanding of cement industry dynamics, including marketing, sales, and distribution
  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to lead teams and drive change effectively
  • Strong community relations skills
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Experienced people manager and leader, skilled in coaching and leading both direct and indirect reports, as well as internal and external teams.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
