Plant Manager

The Opportunity: Reporting to the Group Director - Manufacturing, the Plant Manager is responsible for the overall results of the factory while strictly adhering to Food Safety and Quality requirements. They will ensure the plant operates within Good Manufacturing Practices, providing exceptional customer satisfaction as a lowest cost producer, in an environment that is compliant with Health and Safety and Human Resources standards. Some of the Exciting Things You’ll Do:

1. Foster and maintain a positive labour relations environment by ensuring all employees are treated with respect, grievances are dealt with in a timely manner, and employees are communicated with in an open manner.
2. Motivate employees to embrace Maple Leaf Food’s Leadership Edge Values.
3. Accountable for production costs, labour utilization, yields, results of operations and execute cost improvement strategies.
4. Champion continuous improvement for the manufacturing processes in supporting Six Sigma methodologies, leading projects to optimize production operations and minimize product waste.
5. Communicate strategies and support for an accident-free facility.
6. Support the implementation for newly created or changes made to existing Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to ensure consistent product quality and a progressive food safety program.
7. Develop and coach a cohesive, competent management team and planning for capable management succession by effectively acquiring, developing, and motivating team members.
8. Prepare and implement capital improvement plans, including making recommendations, preparing and executing the Capital Plant Budget.
9. Prepare yearly operating budgets, standard cost of goods for raw materials, direct labour and plant overheads.

We’re committed to disciplined decision making and data plays a big part in this role, which requires comfort with using various tools (SAP, variance reports, downtime analysis, SWOT analysis, Six Sigma etc.). Prior experience in a food or beverage processing industry, specifically with canned products would be an asset.
