Mississauga’s City Planning Strategies Division is looking for a Planning and Spatial Data Analyst to strengthen our growing data practice. We are seeking candidates who are curious and passionate about planning and data, can balance multiple priorities, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and apply analytical thinking and geospatial solutions to work through complex land use planning problems.
The successful candidate will help to analyze planning data; develop population and employment forecasts; develop and maintain planning and demographic projections; provide guidance on information planning analytics; support the creation of geographical information system (GIS) web applications; provide innovative solutions to problems; respond to demographical databases; and, deliver updates on Mississauga population, housing and employment requests for information. Work with clients to provide simplified solutions to issues encountered. Extensive computer and software use including databases, spreadsheets, data analytic, publishing, presentation, MS Office and GIS software is required.
University degree in urban and regional planning, geography, geographical information systems, statistics or related discipline is required
Minimum of 3 years professional experience in urban planning, geographic and statistical analysis and/or growth forecasting is required
Experience with ESRI suite of products including, ArcGIS Pro and extensions and ArcGIS Online is required
Experience with population and employment growth projections/forecasting, demographic and housing data analysis
Experience with data analytical software such as Power BI, Excel, and Tableau
Familiarity with 3D Visualization concepts using ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Urban, or City Engine is an asset
Experience with Open Data and AI is an asset
Effective writing, oral communications and knowledge of planning policies
Ability to prioritize, multitask and produce accurate work to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Membership or eligibility for membership with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute is an asset
Hourly Rate/Salary: $76,313.00 - $101,753.00
