In-Line Pigging Solutions Ltd. specializes in supporting and executing pipeline integrity management programs. Founded in 2003 with its head office located in Calgary, AB, In-Line started with 3 employees and has now grown to over 80 professional office and field employees. We have a highly trained workforce that is cross trained and located across Canada and the United States providing a local presence from coast to coast.

In-Line Integrity Solutions is a subsidiary of In-Line Pigging Solutions Ltd. specializing in Pipeline Integrity management and engineering services.

Position Summary

The position of Pipeline Integrity Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise, conducting engineering projects, creating and finalizing deliverables to client projects, and close collaboration with the technical team, as well as providing internal support to business processes.

Reporting

This position will report directly to the Director of Integrity Services. For project related and technical tasks, this role will work closely with other technical staff and project managers.

Job Duties

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and utilize analysis, workflow, and reporting templates based on current industry standards and best practices.
  • Conduct Engineering Assessments in compliance with CSA Z662
  • Develop and maintain competence in defect analysis tools
  • Integration and assessment of datasets from multiple sources (historical inspection alignment / dig validation integration / third-party inspection data alignment).
  • Corrosion growth rate analysis and metal loss Fitness for Service (FFS) assessments.
  • Perform Mechanical deformation compliance assessment based on CSA standard, and FFS assessment using caliper data to calculate strain or shape parameters.
  • Conduct Crack FFS assessments for developing short and long-term dig program.
  • Pipeline integrity compliance and long-term assessments.
  • Maintain understanding of contemporary ILI technology, and emerging reporting deliverables within the pipeline integrity inspection & analysis space.
  • Organize and track deliverables – requirements, due dates, delivery dates, etc.
  • Complete reports in support of assignments and projects.
  • Maintain effective communication with client technical or project representatives.
  • Work with other technical staff to identify opportunities to enhance functionality to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulations, standards, and integrity best practices in Canadian and US jurisdictions. Recommend and develop improvements of current company processes as applicable.
  • Review existing processes to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policy.
  • Prepare and support deliverables using well-developed written and verbal communication skills; including report writing.
  • Support proposals for new projects, including identification of potential problems and possible solutions.
  • Assist in estimating cost and schedule requirements for projects.
  • Track cost and schedule against project baseline.
  • Maintain membership with APEGA.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the technical team.
  • Any other duties as required.

Experience / Skill Requirements

This position requires:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Pipeline Integrity.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA (and other engineering associations) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required. An advanced degree (Ph.D. or M.Sc.) would be considered an asset.
  • Familiar with technical aspects and execution of pipeline integrity programs.
  • Proficient in data management.
  • Familiarity with pipeline integrity standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of end-user requirements, and integrity management methodologies.
  • Self-Driven with ability to work diligently and achieve results with minimal supervision and a proactive approach.
  • Able to manage multiple competing requests and deliverables to deadlines, with a service mentality.
  • Complex reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills and an understanding of the technical aspects of data flow through the ILI operation.
  • Knowledge of RSTRENGH methodologies for evaluating metal loss anomalies, API 579 FFS assessment methodology for assessing metal loss, crack and dent anomalies, and IMU ILI data analysis.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, written and oral, will be necessary to understand team and client needs, and ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, handling many documents/files simultaneously, while under strict time constraints to meet tight deadlines.

Hours & Working Conditions

Hours for this position are primarily Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, but efforts are performance and deadline-based, and may be dictated by the specific project(s) you are working on. Duties and responsibilities will be carried out primarily in an office setting.
