The Role:

Are you an upcoming or recent graduate looking to start your career as a Pipefitter within the energy industry? Keyera is seeking a New Graduate Pipefitter Apprentice to join our Maintenance team. You will be based at the Brazeau River facility, located southwest of Drayton Valley.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll develop the full range of knowledge required to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for oil, steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems. The shift is 10-hour days, 4 days on, 3 days off. Transportation to site from Drayton Valley will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret red-line construction drawings and blueprints (Isometrics, P&ID’s, etc.)
  • Assist journeyperson pipefitter(s) with the installation of equipment, pipe, and structural steel onsite.
  • Assemble piping and valves.
  • Prepare pipe and fittings for tacking, hoisting, and rigging.
  • Hydrotest, assemble and install pipe spools in the fabrication facility.
  • Measure, cut, and thread pipe to the required shape.
  • Install supports, valves, piping, and control systems.
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate the system.

What We’re Looking For: We’re looking for an enthusiastic, proactive individual who is passionate about and eager to learn. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Enrolled in a Pipefitter program (indentured apprentice) OR recent RAP program graduate with a strong interest in pursuing Pipefitting. Must have graduated in the past 24 months.
  • Previous experience within the oil and gas industry is an asset.
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and the Environment.
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Strong team player with proven communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Highly organized, reliable individual with attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG, and First Aid Certificates are an asset.
  • Physically able to perform all components of the position (lifting, working at heights, etc.).
  • Able to work in seasonal weather conditions.
