Physiotherapist, Emergency Department - (12580)

Job Type: Regular Part Time

Organizational Department: Sinai Health -> Mount Sinai Hospital -> Allied Health, Rehabilitation Services - Physiotherapy

Employee Group: Non Union

Location: Mount Sinai Hospital Campus - Toronto, ON M5G 1X5 CA (Primary)

Travel Requirement: N/A

Hours: 15 hours per week, Evenings/weekend rotations

Sinai Health is looking for a Physiotherapist to support our Rehabilitation Department at Mount Sinai Hospital Campus. The duties of this staff Physiotherapist are primarily clinical. The caseload consists of consults for patients in the ED who have not been admitted, as well as inpatients admitted to the Emergency Department. Shifts would be scheduled in the evening (approximately 4pm-8pm or 6pm-10pm), on weekends (approximately 10am-6pm) or holidays. There is the potential for weekday work if available.

In this role you will:

  • Assess, plan and provide therapeutic intervention for an assigned patient caseload according to physiotherapy scope of practice.
  • Compile appropriate documentation of physiotherapy activities.
  • Record workload measurement.
  • Supervise Physiotherapy Assistants as per college guidelines.
  • Participate in inter-professional clinics, rounds and discussions.
  • Participate in teaching students from other disciplines.
  • Mentor fellow colleagues, if appropriate.
  • Assist with other department/unit responsibilities or duties, as required.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Current registration and active membership/license in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  • Strong experience in interdisciplinary education.

Preferred:

  • One (1) year of recent and related experience in the treatment of clients/patients.
  • Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent physiotherapy clinical skills with a broad variety of diagnostic groups including skills working with a geriatric population.
  • Experience and skill in complex decision making processes and in advancing best practice initiatives and exploration of innovative models of care.
  • Experience in self-reflective learning and skill in ability to adapt and respond effectively to change.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; professional, diplomatic and confident with a proven ability to work with individuals across all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
