Position Overview

Working as a member of the inter-professional team for weekend coverage, the Physiotherapist will be responsible for providing assessment, consultation and education to the patient, family members and the interprofessional team within a variety of in-patient units. The successful candidate will actively participate in regular team meetings, liaising with unit level teams, community-based providers, advocating on behalf of clients and their families, and participating in inter-professional patient and family conferences as needed.

The primary area of assignment will be working with our complex care, mental health and rehab populations. This role will primarily work on weekends covering acute medicine or general surgery units. The weekend physiotherapist is scheduled for one Saturday and Sunday shift out of every 4 weekends. Where there is a statutory holiday, this holiday is included as part of the long weekend.

Education

  • Registration and license to practice with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and in good standing
  • M.Sc (preferred) in Physiotherapy or equivalent

Experience

  • Recent experience in acute care hospital-based medicine and geriatric care preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work and function effectively as an interdisciplinary team member
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Motivated to practice in accordance with the mission and vision of hospital/health service
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development
  • Excellent work performance and attendance
