Job description

Position Overview

We are currently looking to engage a physician or team of physicians interested in providing comprehensive primary care to incarcerated individuals in the Abbotsford area.

Responsibilities

The physician will be responsible for conducting on-site medical clinics held weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and bi-weekly on Wednesday mornings, addressing a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions. Responsibilities include:

  1. Performing medical assessments, diagnosing illnesses, developing and monitoring individualized treatment plans, and prescribing medications;
  2. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary health care team to support the physical and mental health needs of patients;
  3. Providing on-call coverage;
  4. Responding to infrequent call-back requests.

Qualifications

  1. Licensed for independent practice with the CPSBC;
  2. Mandatory: Six months in the last 2 years providing primary care physician services. Must be able to prescribe OAT;
  3. Asset: experience providing primary care to incarcerated individuals;
  4. Asset: formal training, clinical experience, research and/or training experience in the following areas: Addiction medicine, Emergency medicine, Infectious diseases (HIV or hepatitis C), Palliative care, Care of the elderly, Mental health, Chronic pain management, Indigenous health, Women’s health, 2SLGBTQ health;
  5. Asset: Experience with quality initiatives relating to improving clinic flow; assessing the impact of a new team model; setting service standards;
  6. Asset: Experience performing practice reviews;
  7. Asset: Experience providing effective inter-professional collaboration in patient care with other healthcare professionals.

Additional Requirements

  1. Must be eligible for a Government of Canada clearance at the Reliability Status level.
