Annual Hours: 2600 Basic

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a motivated Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant for a full-time position in Orthopedics at the Health Sciences Centre.

Responsibilities

1. Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic investigations/interventions.
2. Conduct history and physical exams in various settings, including the Emergency Department and wards.
3. Follow patients in the pre/peri/postoperative ward and other clinical settings.
4. Attend clinical and educational rounds.
5. Maintain standard practice recordings of all patient encounters, utilizing electronic medical records when available.
6. Communicate effectively in English with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

THIS IS NOT A MEDICAL ASSISTANT OR MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT POSITION

Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications and is accompanied by a benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant.
• Must be eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment.
• Prior experience preferred.
• Candidates must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to CPSM.

Clinical Assistants:

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical School in Canada or abroad.
• Must have at least one of the following:
• Clinical Assistant Assessment
• NAC OSCE
• LMCC

This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry Checks. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
