Reporting to the Manager of Gas Production & Land Development Engineering, the Project Manager plays a vital role as a public land developer, overseeing the planning, engineering, construction management, and project management of land development projects. This position focuses on end-to-end project management, from initial concept through to construction and commissioning, for commercial, residential and industrial land development. To be successful in this role, you have strong project management expertise, a deep understanding of land development and urban planning principles, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine passion for positively impacting the community.
Your key responsibilities
- Leads the planning, design, engineering and construction of land development projects.
- Manages the RFP and tender process while overseeing contract administration and supply chain management functions.
- Ensures compliance and regulatory approvals are obtained and addressed for land development projects.
What you bring
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and associated contracts from conception to completion.
- Knowledge of land development and urban design principles and practices, including land use planning, landscape architecture, municipal engineering and construction methods.
- Financial acumen to understand land development economics, prepare project proformas and develop, manage and report on budgets.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City staff, members of the public, the business community and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Engineering or related disciplines).
- Six (6) years of directly related experience working as a professional in land development projects, with specific experience both as the owner's representative and in managing consultants and contractors.
- Professional membership in or ability to become a member of an accredited professional body such as the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of Alberta (APEGA).
- Certification of eligibility to become certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license with acceptable driving record.
