Personal Support Worker!

Work Location: Thunder Bay

As a Personal Support Worker, you will participate as a member of a multidisciplinary care team in the provision of care for the residents.

This role reports to the Clinical Manager with the following accountabilities:

  1. Provides basic nursing care based on each resident’s developed care plan and within the framework of an established nursing program.
  2. Encourages and supports resident participation in activities of daily living.
  3. Provides input into the development and maintenance of resident care plans and participates in resident care conferences.
  4. Reports changes in residents’ physical and mental condition to the Registered Nurse and documents as per policy.
  5. Participates in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff, demonstrating an appropriate response to emergencies and safety procedures.

Ideal Candidate

  1. Successful completion of a recognized personal support worker or developmental services worker program; or
  2. Enrolled at a college or university in the registered practical nursing or registered nursing program.
  3. A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly is necessary.
  4. Certification in CPR
  5. Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Personal Support Worker Return of Service (PSW ROS) ($10,000 Incentive Program)

The City is an approved employer for this temporary recruitment initiative that offers new eligible personal support workers (PSWs) a $10,000 incentive in return for a twelve-month commitment to work in a long-term home or for a home and community care employer in Ontario.

Rural, Remote and Northern Relocation Support ($10,000 Incentive Program)

The City is an approved employer for this temporary recruitment initiative that offers new eligible personal support workers with an additional $10,000 to support relocation costs for those recent PSW graduates committing to work in a long-term care home or with a home and community care employer in a rural, remote, or northern area for 12 months.

Personal Support Workers Permanent Compensation Enhancement Program

The successful candidate will be entitled to an additional $3.00 hourly as legislated through the Personal Support Workers Permanent Compensation Enhancement Program by the Provincial Government.
