The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Indigenous Fathers Involvement Worker to join our team. This full-time position offers flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to best serve the needs of Indigenous fathers and their families.

The Indigenous Fathers Involvement Worker will support and engage Indigenous fathers and male caregivers in culturally safe, strength-based programs and initiatives. The role focuses on promoting positive parenting, fostering family connections, and enhancing community involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate programs that support Indigenous fathers in their parenting journey.
  • Provide one-on-one support and advocacy for fathers navigating family dynamics, parenting challenges, and community resources.
  • Organize workshops, cultural activities, and peer support groups.
  • Collaborate with local agencies, Elders, and community partners to enhance services.
  • Offer referrals to additional support services as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports on program outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with Indigenous families and communities.
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and parenting practices.
  • Ability to build trust and meaningful relationships with fathers and male caregivers.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and advocacy skills.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe approaches.
  • Experience in program development and group facilitation is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license.
