Position Information

This position will require occasional night rotations for ECMO support.

Rotation/Shifts

Days, weekends, 8 hour shifts. Must be available for stand by and call back on evenings, nights, weekends, and stat holidays.

Basic Requirements

1. Successful completion of post-graduate program in Cardiovascular Perfusion Technology from an accredited institution;
2. Current certification with the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP) and/or the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP);
3. Non-certified candidates meeting equivalent educational requirements and ABCP certified candidates must have current approval of eligibility from the CSCP Board of Directors to challenge the National Examination; and this examination must be successfully completed within 1 year of hire;
4. Three years recent related experience in Cardiovascular Perfusion;
5. Good understanding of perfusion related mechanical and electrical technology;
6. Experience and ability to supervise/lead/coach/mentor;
7. Good understanding of computer applications and experience working with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications;
8. Superior written and verbal communication skills;
9. Good interpersonal skills;
10. Ability to work in challenging work environment and stressful situations;
11. Ability to multi-task;
12. Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with pediatric Cardiovascular Perfusion;
2. Recent experience with a variety of mechanical circulatory support devices including intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and ventricular assist devices (VADs);
3. Experience working with variety of cardiac surgery procedures;
4. Experience in professional teaching and training;
5. Experience in medical research activities/projects/presentations;
6. Prior experience working as other health care professional in acute care setting;
7. Related graduate level of university education;
8. Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
