Pediatric Occupational Therapist
Part Time, 3 days a week

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team, specializing in pediatric care for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). As an Occupational Therapist at TELUS Health Children Support, you will play a crucial role in helping children achieve developmental milestones, enhance independence, and improve their quality of life through targeted therapy interventions.
Responsibilities:
Assessment and Intervention
Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate sensory, motor, and cognitive abilities of pediatric patients.
Identify individual strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement through standardized tests, clinical observations, and parent/caregiver input.
Treatment Planning and Intervention
Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings, focusing on therapeutic goals and functional outcomes.
Implement evidence-based interventions and therapeutic activities to enhance fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and social-emotional development.
Collaboration and Communication
Collaborate closely with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care and effective treatment planning.
Provide clear and concise progress updates, recommendations, and goals during team meetings and parent conferences.

Qualifications:
Masters degree in Occupational Therapy
In good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with pediatric populations preferred.
Strong clinical skills in conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing interventions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge/Skills:
Extensive knowledge of occupational therapy theory, principles, procedures and treatment techniques
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of various paediatric therapies
Sound clinical and professional judgment consistent with accepted models of practice, with demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize workload and adapt to a changing caseload
Excellent interpersonal skills with customer service-orientation; skilled in providing empathy, support and critical analysis in complex clinical and sensitive situations
Strong teamwork skills in the areas of mentoring, motivation and creative problem-solving
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
Comprehensive knowledge of community resources, health agencies and social services
Terms:
