Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for timekeeping, administrative functions and the pre and post processing of FedEx Freight Canada Payroll.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Review, analyze and verify payroll reports and documents for accuracy; make necessary adjustments or corrections as required through established procedures.
  2. Ensure the accurate processing of regular payroll, incentive payouts, all interim checks, audit reports, data uploads, and year-end activities.
  3. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including government bodies, Payroll Services and leadership to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and other related remittances.
  4. Responsible for reconciliation functions throughout the year for items such as vacation, benefit deductions and remittances.
  5. Participate in annual audits that pertain to payroll functions.
  6. Provide assistance with payroll related issues and questions from various areas within the organization.
  7. Serve as point of contact for timekeeping application support.
  8. Perform analysis to investigate variances from expected outcomes.
  9. Maintain in-depth understanding of payroll/timekeeping products and evaluate existing functionality as new versions are released.
  10. Develop and recommend process and procedure enhancements; evaluate new processes/procedures and document overall impact results.
  11. Work with various stakeholders; participate in the implementation of applications of system upgrades and/or new timekeeping related modules; identify program problems and develop solutions.
  12. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
  13. Perform other assignments (or duties) as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

  1. Minimum Post-secondary Degree required.
  2. Three (3) years payroll/time-keeping related experience, required.
  3. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation, preferred.
  4. Experience with Timekeeping and HRIS systems, preferred.
  5. Bilingual (English/French) preferred; required in Quebec.
  6. Knowledge of accounting best practices, preferred.
  7. Ability to work independently and as a team member and take initiative in fast paced work environment.
  8. Ability to manage competing and changing priorities.
  9. Strong time management, organizational, analytical, planning and problem-solving skills, including excellent attention to detail.
  10. Good interpersonal skills.
  11. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint and Outlook).
  12. Professional verbal, reading and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
  13. Ability/willingness to learn new applications, software, systems, and equipment as required.
