Job description

Are you an expert in accounting and payroll management within the construction industry? Do you have solid experience in unionized environments (CCQ), and are you looking for a new challenge where your skills will be fully recognized? Join a Quebec-based SME on the south shore of Montreal that values a human and collaborative approach. In this key role, you will be responsible for the full payroll cycle for a large unionized workforce, in an environment where accuracy, autonomy, and initiative are essential. If you enjoy combining administrative and technical tasks in a minimally automated environment, this opportunity is for you!

Tasks

  • Collect, process, and validate essential payroll data weekly, within prescribed deadlines, for a workforce of 300 to 500 employees under various collective agreements, primarily CCQ.
  • Manually process a significant portion of timesheets, especially during high-volume periods.
  • Ensure employee profiles are created during new hires and maintain records throughout the employment lifecycle.
  • Manage data related to benefits payments.
  • Act as a resource person for payroll and benefits-related questions and resolve associated issues.
  • Perform monthly processing requirements: CCQ, AMMQ, FTQ, government withholdings, collective insurance, vehicle fleet, training, etc.
  • Apply the rules of collective agreements (overtime, bonuses, various expenses).
  • Administer files related to hiring, terminations, and employment cessation.
  • Prepare and produce T4s and Relevé 1 forms.
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Advantages

  • Comprehensive group insurance with employer contribution.
  • Reimbursement for expenses: training, professional order membership fees.
  • Company-provided cell phone (or allowance) and laptop.
  • A friendly, stimulating, and dynamic work environment.
  • Possibility of hybrid work (1 to 5 days) after the integration period.

Job requirements

  • DEP, DEC, or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, administration, or a related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a unionized company, ideally with multiple collective agreements, including CCQ.
  • Strong knowledge of the construction sector collective agreements (particularly CCQ), including the management of multiple trades and classifications.
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll laws and standards, including fiscal principles and year-end processes.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken French.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (mainly Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • SCP certification (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) and ACP membership (an asset).

Desired profile

  • Dynamism and a hands-on approach (not afraid to invest and participate in the department’s tasks).
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness, and precision.
  • Strong organizational skills, methodical, rigorous, and collaborative approach.
  • High autonomy, sense of responsibility, and excellent judgment.
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team.
