Responsibilities
This position is responsible for posting insurance payments and adjustments while being able to recognize and escalate any discrepancies. Additionally, this role involves researching, following up, and posting payment exceptions.
Essential Duties
- Posts insurance and patient payments, including contracted and non-contracted insurance carriers.
- Posts appropriate adjustments according to terms of contract and management systems.
- Downloads batches from Quick Base.
- Uses Middleware Remit IQ to assist in posting 835/ERA (Electronic Remittance Advice) files into the practice management system Open Dental.
- Monitors reimbursement for any underpayments and forwards accounts to the AR team for follow-up resolution.
- Ensures posted payments are reconciled daily.
- Escalates payment issues to the AR team through the kickback process.
- Monitors kickbacks to ensure timely completion.
- Works with the Cash Reconciliation team to follow up on and correct payment exceptions or discrepancies.
- Actively supports the company’s culture and business mission by prioritizing the organization’s people and its customers.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Medical or Dental Billing, with posting experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Solid background with commercial insurance companies required.
- Proven understanding of Explanation of Benefits forms, claim forms, and the insurance billing process.
- Ability to build positive relationships with team members and outside clients.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
