Job description

Our client is a growing Commercial Property Management and Residential Development company located in Mississauga. They have an outstanding opportunity for a Property Accountant to join their accounting team on a part-time permanent basis. Reporting directly to the Owner, the Property Accountant is responsible for a specific portfolio of properties with the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes for multiple properties
  • Reconciliation of bank statements, mortgages, loans and monthly journal entries.
  • Prepare and report monthly HST, Payroll & Other Remittances.
  • Prepare and process Tenant CAM/TAX recovery reconciliations annually.
  • Investigate and validate recovery rules in tenant leases.
  • Prepare, review and post monthly rent roll
  • Process Accounts Receivable and follow up on overdue accounts
  • Verify code and ensure processing of accounts payable, and review payments for accuracy before submission to Management for signatures.
  • Ensure correct chargeback such as utilities to tenants.
  • Prepare and submit annual MPAC financial reporting requirement, vacancy rebates.
  • Prepare year end audit working papers and liaison with auditors.
  • Prepare various weekly and monthly accounting reports and analysis as requested.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for internal management.
  • Prepare and reviewing of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Support property management personnel in financial accounting matters.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or University degree, preferred but not required
  • Accounting designation in CPA, CMA/CGA, preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 3 years full cycle accounting experience in the Commercial Property Management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented with superior analytical and communications skills.
