Part-time Kitchen Assistant / Early Childhood Assistant Float

Job title : Kitchen Assistant / Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) Float

Status : Regular Part-Time (25 hours per week, Monday to Friday); 2 positions available

Hiring range : $20.65 / hour to $23.94 / hour

Job Location : Eaton Centre CED 14 Trinity Square OR Brookfield Place CED 10 Front Street West

Job summary

As our newest Kitchen Assistant / ECA Float, you will play a crucial role in organizing and distributing nutritional meals and snacks to the children throughout the centre.

You’ll work alongside a team of dedicated educators and support staff, collaborating to provide the highest quality care and education for our children.

As an Early Childhood Assistant, you will:

  1. Organize children’s lunches prepared by the catering company and ensure good temperature is maintained prior to serving.
  2. Organize nutritious morning and afternoon snacks for all children in the centre.
  3. Ensure food handling standards and quality guidelines are adhered to as per the Public Health regulations (e.g., cross-contamination, food storage).
  4. Be responsible for after-meal cleanup, including washing and disinfecting dishes, serving utensils, cutlery, children’s bottles, and disinfecting food preparation areas.
  5. Maintain the kitchen by organizing all serving dishes, utensils, food, etc., and ensure it is properly organized and put away.
  6. Be aware of children’s food restrictions and allergies by ensuring food is labelled.
  7. When not supporting the kitchen, assist in the childcare rooms by providing a safe, developmentally sound, and nurturing environment for young children as needed.

You will be set up for success if you have:

  1. Food Handler Certificate from Public Health.
  2. 1 year of work experience in a related field preferred.
  3. Knowledge in basic nutrition and food preparation.
  4. Immunizations and health assessment in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act.
  5. Standard First Aid & CPR C Certificate.
  6. French language skills is an asset.
