Duties:
Reporting to the Field Unit Superintendent, this position will be responsible for leading the Jasper Field Unit Human Resources Team and will be a key member of the management team. You will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of the full range of human resources services to Jasper National Park and Fort St. James Historic Site.
You will provide day to day direction to the team of Human Resources Advisors and Assistants. As a leader, you will be responsible for fostering their career development and growing their capabilities as human resources professionals.
You will lead through influence and provide guidance to help managers exercise their authorities in an ever-evolving HR landscape. Your challenges will include leading projects / initiatives, providing strategic advice and leadership on a multitude of complex issues which include grievances, investigations, and disability management.

In this role, you will play a critical part in the recovery efforts for Jasper. People are the cornerstone of what make our Park successful, and you will be responsible for providing Human Resources thought leadership and guidance as we develop and implement our recovery plans.
Work environment:
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.
Given the current context of Jasper, it is expected that remote work and travel to the Jasper area will be required. Once housing becomes available in Jasper, it will be expected that the Human Resources Manager has an in-office presence. This position will not be full-time telework.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications):
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed; OR Certification as Chartered Professionals in Human Resources; OR Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable experience in human resources.
EXPERIENCE IN:
Significant experience with providing advice and recommendations to management in the following HR disciplines: staffing, labour relations, occupational health and safety, disability management, classification, or HR Planning.
Significant experience providing operational services and strategic advice, to clients relating to Labour Relations and Disability Management in a unionized setting.
Experience leading, participating in and advising on complex projects and programs that reach across many stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
Experience preparing presentations and writing briefing notes and reports for Senior Management and Executive Level audiences.
Experience working with centralized services and/or collaborating with centers of expertise.
Experience managing and/or leading a team.

Reliability Status security clearance - Must be met prior to employment:
Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security clearance;
Possession and maintenance of a valid class 5 driver's license (Class L, N or other graduated licenses will not be accepted).
Operational requirements:
Willingness to work weekends, shift work, statutory holidays and overtime if required.
Willingness to travel and work in a variety of climatic and geographical conditions to various work sites.
Willingness to wear identifier clothing and safety equipment and follow safety procedures.
