Job description

Fitch Violande, Barristers and Solicitors, is seeking a paralegal. The ideal candidate will have between 2 and 5 years experience in handling real estate and family law matters, with a strong working knowledge of the Land Registration Act, Nova Scotia Property Online, the Divorce Act, Matrimonial Property Act, and Parenting and Support Act.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drafting and reviewing legal documents related to real estate transactions;
  2. Drafting and reviewing legal documents related to family law matters;
  3. Communicating professionally with clients, lawyers, and other third parties via phone and email;
  4. Managing family and property law files, ensuring deadlines are appropriately calendared and completed;
  5. Assisting lawyers and support staff as required;
  6. Updating client records in PC Law as required;
  7. Performing conflict checks;
  8. Doing bank deposits;
  9. Performing general file management and related administrative and reception tasks as required.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in an efficient manner. This is a full-time (35 hours per week) position, from Monday to Friday, in the office from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The wage range for this position is between $22 and $26 per hour, with 15 days of paid vacation.
