Reports to: Manager, Production Control - Planning
The Logistics and Packaging Specialist is responsible for developing and managing packaging solutions, managing transportation and logistics processes, and ensuring efficient material flow within the supply chain.
Responsibilities
Packaging:
Manage packaging/racking fleet requirement, procurement, and maintenance.
Oversee all aspects of packaging/racking projects from design to production, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget and provide regular updates to the stakeholders.
Determine optimal packaging style for inbound/outbound components.
Collaborate with Engineering, suppliers, and manufacturers to develop innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions.
Coordinate and escalate with Sales, Customers and Production Control to avoid packaging/racking shortages.
Transportation & Logistics
Manage global logistics including custom clearances, freight forwarding, cross docking, container re-routing, etc.
Manage, track and escalate shipments, for proactively addressing potential delays or disruptions.
Monitor adherence to freight budget.
Address and resolve container issues in a timely manner including damages, delays, or freight discrepancies.
Determine and execute contingency plans for supply chain interruptions.
Proactively manage expedites, diversions and ERS.
Create and maintain dashboards for real-time visibility and logistics performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Business Administration or Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
P.Log certification (preferred).
Experience with IBM AS400 (preferred).
5 years experience in related field at an automotive OEM/Tier 1.
