The overnight sleep attendant is responsible for reinforcing the goals of the Assisted Living Program (ALP) while ensuring the safety and security of the clients at night. The goals of the program include: improved quality of life, increased independence, and increased engagement in productive activity.
Skills And Qualifications Required
Full-time Community College or University student currently enrolled in an area of Human Studies
Voluntary or paid work experience in a helping capacity
Position Responsibilities
Follows the Code of Conduct for Community Brain Injury Services (CBIS)
Promotes and fosters a healthy workplace environment through supportive and respectful team behaviours
Based on reports from evening staff, reviews any particular needs of residential clients to provide support/monitoring as necessary
Ensures clients are accounted for while maintaining safety and security of clients and their apartments
Provides direction, prompting, or physical assistance, as required by residential clients, for various areas of life skills such as assisting with taking medication, transferring clients, personal care, making breakfast, setting alarm clocks, or completing late evening house chores such as tidying kitchens and common areas
Assists with completion of evening/nighttime routines and tasks by completing staff shift checklist each night
Communicates any unusual events, particular needs of residential clients, or lack of follow through with program rules of participation in communication book and to staff arriving for duty in the morning
