Outreach and Knowledge Exchange Coordinator

About Mawi’Art: Wabanaki Artist Collective

Mawi’Art is the only Indigenous-led pan-Atlantic organization supporting development of the Indigenous arts sector in Atlantic Canada.

Our Vision is to see Indigenous Artists living in the Atlantic Canada, which is within the traditional territories of the Wabanaki, Inuit, and Innu Peoples, recognized and sought out for their outstanding contributions through contemporary and traditional art forms.

Our Mission is to provide Indigenous Artists with advocacy, community, and resources to succeed.

Art is a natural invitation to cross-cultural connection, learning, and healing. Underpinning Mawi’Art’s activities is the concept of Etuaptmumk, or “two-eyed seeing.” This term was developed by Elder Albert Marshall of Eskasoni First Nation; Etuaptmumk allows Mawi’Art to utilize the strengths of both Indigenous and western ways of knowing to carry out our work in a good way.

As part of Mawi’Art’s vision to recognize and seek-out outstanding Indigenous talent and as part of our commitment to addressing historical inequities experienced by Indigenous peoples, we will prioritize Indigenous candidates who meet the qualifications for the role in all hiring.
