Job description

Overview

Coordinates production activities for an assigned shift and interfaces with other departments in the absence of the regular supervisor. Supervises production/packaging staff. Serves as back-up for shift supervisor when needed or supervises production/packaging activities on weekends.

Responsibilities

  1. Review all pertinent SOP’s and is a QI (Qualified Individual) for the position.
  2. Ensures scheduled production goals for the shift are met.
  3. Ensures required production reporting is accurate and timely.
  4. Signs and dates all bakery, processing and packaging paperwork to release product not on hold.
  5. Maintains packaging performance for scheduling, production, quality and safety standards.
  6. Controls/minimizes overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, downtime and product re-work.
  7. Maintains company standards for cleanliness, food safety and productivity in the packaging area.
  8. Completes required daily reports to record the daily work.
  9. Works cooperatively with other members of the production area.
  10. Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
  11. Participates in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence.

Qualifications

  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Basic mechanical aptitude, leadership, organization and math skills are required.
  3. 2-3 years production experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to move 40 - 50 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more at various frequencies and/or intervals. Must be able to stand for an 8 – 10 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment. The noise level is loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed shoes are required.
